Hog’s Breath

so i watched some TV. my parents came home and then we went out to the Hog’s Breath Café for dinner. mmm…steak :o)

it was cool. Jen isn’t back from Parachute yet, so she couldn’t join us…oh well, i get to enjoy waking her up really early tomorrow morning >:o)

came home and finished packing. Ann gave me my b’day present. it’s a jetlag travel guide to Phaic Tãn (pronounced fake tan…if you didn’t get it). the jetlag travel guide series are travel guides, about 250 pages, set out really nice, to countries that don’t actually exist. they’re extremely hilarious, complete with photos, restaurant guides, major cities, maps, traveller tips. great stuff. something to read while i’m away :o)

check out Jetlagtravel.com for more info.

packing

started packing this morning for my month away. i can’t pack everything i need, ‘cos my parents aren’t back from their holiday yet, and they have the sleeping bag i need to pack :oD apart from that, i hope i’ve got everything else. if not, then it’s not too difficult for somethig to get sent up to Auckland, or to Palmie or Rotorua…a lot easier than having to send something over to the ’states!

can’t be arsed writing a list of things to pack/that i’ve packed…i’ll wing it.

might go watch some TV

meh…

my day

walked to church this morning…my parents are away on holiday with the car. it only took 50 mins. i got a chocolate bar, ‘cos it’s my b’day in 2 days. went to Moore Wilson’s after and chatted with Carl for an hour or so.

walked home from there. watched the remaining ‘Lost’ episodes. what a primo series!!!

Carl came round after he finished work, and we sat around chatting. later we were joined by Si and Jon. we all went into Wgtn later to a restaurant called Eastern Sunrise. met up with Su (Si’s wife-to-be) and a few of Su’s friends. the 8 of us sat around talking and ate dinner. i’m not a huge fan of Asian cuisine, but it was alright…i’ve had better deep fried ice-cream.

we all wen to the Ballroom later and played pool for a couple of hours. i used to be a lot better at pool…

thanks Si and Su for shouting us all an awesome evening.

came back home and Si and Su opened their engagement presents from Jon and his family - a kettle and a slow cooker…i’m kinda strapped for cash at the mo, otherwise i might’ve gotten them something too…oh well. later.

i need to pack tomorrow…

Grits

i remember what the other thing i was gonna write was now.

my other sister, Jen, is up at Parachute (huge Christian music festival) this weekend, and she texted Ann to tell her to tell me that she got my Grits CD ‘The Art of Translation’ signed (presumably by Grits…). sweet.

Grits website

also, last night, i didn’t watch the ‘Next Action Star’ movie. i taped it and watched another episode of ‘Lost’ instead :o)

Lost & The Incredibles

today i spent much of my time watching episodes of the TV series ‘Lost’. from what i’ve seen in the first 6 or so episodes, it’s awesome! i’m gonna watch some more later. and that’s pretty much how i spent my day.

Jon came round in the afternoon, and we watched a few bits from our roadtrip movies. man, we so need to do another roadtrip…i need to earn some petrol money first, i’m thinking…

so then me and Jon, and my sister Ann, and her friend Jess went out to see ‘The Incredibles’. fantastic movie! drank a lot of pepsi, and ate a lot of popcorn.

on my non-rating movies scale, i give The Incredibles 8.5 / 10. it’s even made my ‘DVDs to buy’ list :o)

Jon shouted me a McD’s soft serve cone on the way home. prolly cost more for the petrol used to drive to McD’s than it did for the ice-creams! cheers, Jon.

came home and i’m now gonna finish watching episode 7 of Lost. then i’m gonna watch the movie on TV that was the result of the TV series ‘Next Action Star’…should be a laugh. can’t remember what it’s called…

was gonna write something else down…i’m sure of it…but i forgot what…

contentment

Contentment is satisfaction with the place God has you at the present. It is freedom from covetousness and from the feeling of having to have “a little bit more” in order to be happy. It delivers from greed and from the stress that comes in trying to lay up treasures on earth. Contentment says that God has been good to me…that He will never fail me…that He knows what is best. A contented life has learned to go without instead of going into debt…has learned to wait for God’s time instead of moving in haste…has learned to hold all things with an open hand instead of a clenched fist. Contentment seeks His kingdom first and trusts God to add all that is needed.

haircut & a funeral

got my haircut this morning…now my fringe doesn’t quite completely cover my crazy tanline i have on my forehead, which i got on wednesday from sitting in the sun chatting with Fi while wearing my T3 cap :oD

anyways…my hair is short enough now that i don’t ned to worry about covering it with a hat before i go out…at least for the next week or so :o) wearing a hat is so much more effortless than putting gel in my hair

Si came round at about 1:00, and we went up to Tawa College (our old high school) to attend the funeral service of Paul Havill, one of the teachers who taught there for 25 years. caught up with a few people i hadn’t seen for a while after the service. after refreshments, and standing around chatting for ages, me and Si and Jo and Steven came back round to my place at sat around reminiscing about the good old days. we all finished in ‘99, so it’s been a while since we’ve seen most of our classmates. it was cool. hopefully we’ll be able to catch up some other time under better circumstances…

i think it’d be cool to have a reunion. see where everyone is and how they’ve changed…how they’ve stayed the same. there are some people i would really like to see again…to catch up with, to congratulate, to laugh with, to give myself a chance to explain, to apologise…

Elektra

went into Porirua with Carl today and saw “Elektra” - the “Daredevil” spin-off. i wasn’t expecting too much out of it, so i wasn’t disappointed. it had some pretty sweet special effects, but there weren’t enough. me and Carl agreed that the movie wasn’t sticking to one genre enough. it kept flicking between action, romance, drama, artsy, etc. if it had stuck to strictly ballroom…i mean action…it could have been a better movie.

not that i ever rate movies, but i’d prolly give it around 6 / 10.
3 / 5 makes it sound too good :oD

also, Carl came back round to my place after and we watched Blade II (sans commentary) and Charlies Angels: Full Throttle. both primo movies!

then i cooked steak for tea, and watched TV all night with my little sister, while she packed for Parachute at the same time. ah, the joy of multi-tasking :oP

mocha frappuccino

had to sew my cheap label-rip-off shorts up this morning: a button had fallen off, and there were 2 holes in one of the pockets…aren’t i domesticated :oP

went into Wellington today and met up with Fi (my ex) for coffee. had a mocha frappuccino. it wasn’t weird seeing her again, which was cool. we sat and chatted for about 3hrs about random stuff. it was great :o)

and then i came home. i may have got slightly sunburnt, but being colourblind, as i am, i wouldn’t know…i’ll have to go ask my sisters…

yes i am burnt :o) i guess that’s what you get for sitting in the sun for 2½ hours :oP

Blade DVDs

went shopping today and bought Blade and Blade II on DVD for a total of $45. got $50 from my Grandma for my birthday, so that’s money well spent i think :oP i could have bought the box set of Blade and Blade II which had the exact same 2 DVDs i bought, but cost…$60! crazy!!!

i also scored $10 by pawning off some old Celtic CDs mum was going to throw out. good old Ca$h Converters. so that’ll pay for my train fares to and from Porirua today, and to and from Wgtn tomorrow.

the remaining $5 from Grandma will be plenty with which to buy a Starbucks Frappuccino® tomorrow :oP

so i think that i’m back to where i started with my money…oh, and mum gave me $20 for a haircut…so i can’t really count that, can i? i might get $3 change from that :oD

finished watching Blade, and am about to watch Blade II with commentary from Wesley Snipes and the writer, whatever his name is…
