didn’t bum around the house today. went to work. i got a payrise! an extra $1.50/hr, taking me up to $12 + 6% holiday pay = $12.72/hr. then it all gets taxed, which puts me on about $10.50/hr net. not too shabby for someone who strips wires all day…which is what i did today. now i’ve got blisters in weird places on my fingers.

got my 2 tyres put on my car and went and bought a new park light. came home and tried to put on my new wipers, but they’re too new and styley for my old car, so they don’t go. i’ll get the guy at the WOF place to put some on for me…that way, i don’t have to worry about breaking anything.

today was the last day of Team X at Maidstone Intermediate for the year…possibly forever. boohoo…so sad :o(

next week we have our Whanau Evening, which is probably the last time we’ll see these kids before they get all grown up and 3rd-formish. hopefully something we’ve taught them will stick and they won’t all end up in jail or dead…

i also had the last mentoring session with my mentee. we went go-karting out at Daytona Raceway. it was awesome. i like it better than the one in Porirua ‘cos the floor’s not shiny and you don’t drift at every single corner!

came back to the office and worked on the last Team X newsletter for the year. next week will involve a lot of printing of newsletters and folding of newsletters.

came home and watched Shark Tale on DVD. i figure that since i’ve got all these DVDs lying around, i might as well watch them. watched Bad Boys after dinner. it’s a great movie. i’d forgotten that half of the movie was just Will Smith and Martin Lawrence yelling and swearing at each other…but somehow it’s not as painful to watch as other cop movies that are similar…maybe it’s ‘cos Will Smith is cool.

had Team X today. it’s our last week in school for the year! we had our Summary programme today, which just recaps everything we’ve taught the kids over the term. it’s gonna be weird from next week…not going into school and seeing all the kids i’ve got to know over the year.

went into Wgtn after and met up with Fi. we caught up for an hour or so. it was cool :o) went to improv after that. it was great fun! we played a bunch of singing games that turned out so funny.

we talked about our show, and decided to postpone it ’til next year so we can skip the Christmas period. so it’ll be in mid-late February next year. probably sometime after the 19th…i’ll let you know closer to the day. it will be an awesome show, and you should all come!

the theme for the party was Vikings! so everyone in attendance (Si, his brother David, me, Jon and Carl) all wore Viking helmets. Jon carried a sword, and we had a toy axe that everyone had turns wielding.

after a traditional Viking lunch of chicken and buns, we went go-karting. Si won. we went from there to mini golf. Si won again…but he was the only Viking not to score a hole-in-one, so we counted that against him. after that we went bowling, where Si didn’t win either game. he got a little annoyed at Jon for laughing at him, so decapitated him.

after re-attaching Jon’s head, we went into Wgtn and decided to flag kayaking, ‘cos the weather didn’t look all that great. went to The Green Parrot for dinner. they serve meat. Vikings like meat :o)

(BTW, Jon’s sword is real - he made it himself!)

we also met Harold, the Life Education Trust giraffe. for some reason, he didn’t seem too put off by a bunch of Vikings…

we went an played 3 games of Laser Force later with a couple of German dudes who happened to be there. finally, we went to Whitby and crashed Julia’s “pimps’n'hos” party, where Si scored a few traditional bachelor party kisses.

yeh…don’t ask.

it was an awesome day! big ups to Jon for organising the whole thing. and all the best for Si and Su for their wedding next weekend, and their life after that. (i hope these photos don’t incriminate you too much…)

had Si’s bachelor party all day today. i’m wasted, so i’ll do a write-up tomorrow and maybe chuck some photos up too.

work was monotonous today. i think  it earned me enough money to have my credit card debt covered for this month…unless i spend more, which i will.

went out with Dad after work to pick up a few car parts so i can get my WOF. ordered a couple of tyres, picked up some new wipers (there…i’ve already spent more money), and the store didn’t have any park lights, so i’ll have to try another place tomorrow. then next week i should be able to go and get my WOF.

Jon came round later and we sorted through the final details of Si’s bachelor party. hopefully it’ll go okay. i still can’t believe Si’s getting married.

meh…

i now know at least 7 engaged couples. by mid-February, 6 of those couples will be married. it’s insane!!!

i don’t even have a girlfriend :o(

got home to find my prize from Reading Cinemas waiting for me. it turned out to be luggage. handy if i was travelling somewhere. now all i need to do is win some travel :oD

it’s a styley piece of carry-on sized luggage, a small bag with an alarm clock, earplugs and a sleeping mask and an inflatable pillow. it didn’t come with tickets to go and see Flight Plan, which is fine, ‘cos i didn’t want to go and see it anyway.

took the day off today…as i have done with the last few Wednesdays. i’m a slacker.

dropped my car off to get its Warrant of Fitness, then walked into Porirua. shopped around. bought Madagascar and Shark Tale on DVD. i’ve gotta stop buying DVDs! i’m not going to buy any more DVDs this year, unless it’s a present for someone else. it doesn’t matter what special offers Whitcoulls throws at me! if i do, then i have to give someone money.

who wants to take me up on that deal?

picked up my car. it needs a bit of work before it can get its WOF. nothing major, just a new tyre, some new wipers and a seatbelt un-twisted.

mucked around all afternoon. checked out the special features from my new DVDs. the bonus animated short starring the Madagascar Penguins is a crack-up!

went to a Thanksgiving evening for the CFUH 18-23s group, which as of tonight is called ‘launch 3 twenty’. it was cool.

had Team X again today. introduced Max to our other 2 classes. he was well received :o) played rugby with a few guys at lunch. it was fun when i wasn’t running…

had my penultimate mentoring session with my mentee. it wasn’t crash hot.

came back to the office and worked for a couple of hours on the newsletter. didn’t get it finished, but it didn’t matter ‘cos 3 people still need to write things for it. slackers.

came home and didn’t do anything productive.
