gaming choices

helped out at Frequency at church this morning. we played games…nothing too stressful for the first time back after school holidays. spent the afternoon mucking around on my computer. finally settled on C&C Renegade as the next game i want to play. so i did. it’s a primo game. i guess it’d be kinda like playing StarCraft: Ghost after playing StarCraft - it’s a familiar world, but from a different perspective.

sucks that StarCraft: Ghost is a console game.

cars

today involved a lot of car-related stuff. went round to Jon’s with Si and his new car. turns out it was an elaborate ruse to get me and Si to help Jon wash all his cars. we washed Si’s car too. 4 cars later, Si learnt how to change his oil. after a lot of effort and bending of tools, we finally got his old oil filter off.

went into Porirua to buy new car parts, and to eat lunch. cruised back to Jon’s after where we replaced bits of Si’s car. Si waxed it later and me and Jon installed his new stereo.

came home, then i drove over to the Hutt for the Frequency Car Rally. it was great fun. the kids had to do a bunch of challenges, including pretending to be cars and driving through the McD’s drive-thru, singing various songs at various locations, collecting interesting items and taking photos of things. my team won :o)

my car didn’t do so well though :o( at the first stop, another driver sideswiped my car as he was pulling out. nothing too serious (i think) and his insurance should cover everything. my car has a bit of frontal damage, and the passenger door doesn’t open anymore, but it still drives fine.

my poor car…

hopefully it won’t take ages to sort everything out, and i’ll be able to get my WOF (which is due in a month…)

fun in Otaki

had a great time in Otaki with the Palmie crew. we spent our time together chillin’ out and talking and playing various card games, Scrabble, Ultimate Frisbee, and Backgammon. sometimes, however, i chose not to participate in certain activities…like shopping for bras, or watching McLeod’s Daughters. ah, the joys of being part of a team that is 62.5% female.

the girls got first pick of the rooms, and Andy scored the double bed, so me and Jono slept in the lounge. i let Jono have the fold-out couch, and i slept on the rest of the funiture. it was actually quite comfortable:

a couch, a chair and a bunch of cushions…

got home and watched a bunch of TV that i’d taped. thankfully, our VCR upstairs decided to be nice and actually recorded the sound as well as the picture for CSI:NY.

war, huh, yeah, what is it good for…killing all the bad guys…

so, what did i do to commemorate ANZAC Day? nothing very ANZACy…well, i played WarCraft III, which has the word ‘war’ in it, which is what ANZAC Day is all about, right? not that i was really thinking about soldiers and beach landings and all that. i was thinking more along the lines of how to use my Crypt Lord’s Impale for maximum effectiveness…

i’m up to here in the game:

carnage…

went to Jade and Andy’s for a pot luck dinner with our home group. it was cool. we hung out and chatted for the night. we are very good at going off the topic that’s being talked about…but somehow we still managed to discuss a lot of relevant stuff. cool :o)

dust + cobwebs = problems

modified radio microphones at work today. it was fun.

played WarCraft III for pretty much the rest of the day.

i should keep a bunch of files to use on days when i don’t do anything worth posting…but since it’s late, i can’t be bothered looking around my directories.

…i know what i was going to post!

my computer has been acting weird, so after not registering as a virus or spyware, i figured the problem mut be inside the actual computer. i took off the cover and found a lot of dust and cobwebs. i kid you not. i dunno how clearly you’ll be able to see it in the photo, but on my (unused) network card, there is a cobweb. what kind of dumb spider builds a web inside a computer?!? anyways, you’d think having a web inside your computer would make it less buggy…

proof that i haven’t used my network card in a while - it has cobwebs!

today is yesterday’s tomorrow

had a Frequency leader’s meeting/lunch after church this morning. it was cool. me and Rose finalised the car rally for Saturday night. hopefully that’ll work out well…

i told Dad yesterday that i’d mow the lawns tomorrow. well, today is yesterday’s tomorrow, so i had to mow the lawns. i was secretly hoping it would rain, but it didn’t. it rained everywhere else, all day, but not in Tawa.

what are the odds?!?

crazy ideas for junk (part 3/3)

crazy ideas for junk

- If you are bored and have access to a ball of string, turn your room into a giant spider web! It’s great fun. Make sure it is possible to get everywhere though. You wouldn’t want to finish stringing, then find that it’s impossible to get to the door…It also prevents anyone from trying to enter your room and read your diary. (Note: If you are really clever you can, with the help of a few eyelet screws and the right sort of lightswitch, make it so that you can turn your light on and off with the pull of certain strings…it has been done!)

- Are you an artist? Or do you just like to draw randomly? If so, or even if not, get some blutack and lots of A4 white paper and cover your walls (and roof if you want) with the paper. That way, you can draw on your walls without getting grounded. See if you can draw a scene all around your room. Get friends to add to it when they come round. If properly done, your room could become a work of art. If not properly done, it will become a work of abstract art, and will sell for more money :)

- Paper isn’t the only thing you can stick on your wall. Found a really cool box? Stick the box on your wall. Can never find a pen? When you do, stick it on your wall so it’s there next time! Other ideas include paintbrushes, various plastic cards, photos, rags, a roll of tape, more blutack, etc. (Note: Do not try to stick heavy things or live animals to your wall. This will only result in injury or death).

- Start an obsession…a healthy one..for something weird, something like penguins. Insist to your family and friends that all gifts be somehow related to penguins. See how much penguin junk you can collect, then sell it all to someone who is mad about penguins (You will have to check your local directory for listings of such people).

- If you have access to pornography, cover your roof with it and see how long it takes for anyone to notice. You would be surprised at the number of people who never look at other peoples roofs. When someone does mention something, make up some excuse like “That? Oh…that’s loadbearing porn”, or “Wha…? How did THAT get there?!?”. (You could try thinking of other places that no one ever looks and put porn there. See how long it takes for someone to find it).

- Place a strange object somewhere obvious in your room. See if anyone ever comments on it. Make sure you have a stockpile of prizes to give people who do comment on it. To make the game more challenging, change the location of one object frequently, or put a different object in the same place each week. Don’t give someone a prize if they’ve already had one.

Million Dollar Grudge War of The Brokeback Saw Village

didn’t work today. i’ve already earned my rent money, and money to pay for carparking. got my haircut. now it is short, and i look like my profile picture once again.

went into Wgtn with Kaiona (my Project K mentoring student). took him the see The Improv Factor. my team didn’t lose today. we came a close 2nd, so that’s better. had a great time performing.

Jon came round this evening. we were bored so we tagged along on Si and Su’s shopping spree. they seem to go shopping every day. it could’ve been funner. Si had to stay home and do ?????? so only me and Jon went and saw Scary Movie 4. it was funny. funnier than Date Movie. if you’re looking for a no-brainer and a bunch of laughs, then see Scary Movie 4. for the most part, it parodies War of The Worlds, The Grudge, The Village and Saw with some Million Dollar Baby and Brokeback Mountain thrown in for good measure.

don’t you hate it when you win stuff, but can’t even remember entering the competition?

filed stuff at work today. not like the paper-putting-away kind of filing, but the other kind, where you use a metal file to smooth things out. i smoothed the edges of circuit boards. probably inhaled too much dust in the process, but i’m sure i’ll live. do they still make PCB’s out of fibreglass?

also, the part of my finger that was pressed hard up against the file all day still feels numb. hopefully it’ll be better tomorrow.

got home to find a package from ZM waiting for me. it was my All American Rejects CD that i have no idea why i have. i don’t remember entering any competition for it, or even when ZM was giving it away. perhaps they had extra copies and sent it out to random people?

the envelope clearly stated that it was for Adam Williamson…weird.

did anyone out there in the internet world win a CD and give my name as theirs?
