my sisters are deserting me…

watched The Bourne Identity today. helped Jen pack and then drove her and a bunch of her stuff out to her new flat in Lyall Bay. she’s flatting out there with Ann and a couple of their friends. i have to help Ann move her stuff tomorrow. then it’ll just be me on my lonesome at home.

<sigh>

went out and caught up with Carl tonight. we saw ‘Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby’. it was pretty funny :o) he gave me a copy of ‘Valiant’ on DVD from his trip. sorry to say, Carl, but i think the zone 4 version has better special features! hehehe. i wish there was some sort of comparitive website you could visit to find out which versions of DVDs to buy. i think the zone 2 version has even better features…but i don’t want to get into it and turn this into another DVD rant

meh…

catching up

watched Eurotrip today. it’s a funny movie. drove Mum and Jen into Wgtn and picked Dad up. went out to the airport, ‘cos Mum and Dad are going away for the weekend. caught up briefly with them before they left. came home and caught up on about 4hrs worth of TV that i’ve taped in the last couple of weeks. i’ve still got 9hrs on tape. i need another day in my week for stuff like that…

TX Conference details

haven’t blogged for a while. i’ve been away at Team X National Conference up in Auckland. it was awesome! here’s what happened:

Friday:

spent most of Friday driving up to Papakura (South Auckland). had our powhiri and i stammered out my mihi. people said it went greatly, so i’ll take their words for it :o) cruised out to a Youth CafĂ© for the evening. it was pretty cool. did a few acts up front with some of the other Team Xer’s.

Saturday:

Cindy Ruakere spoke to us this morning. she’s cool. some of the stuff she said was really good and thought-provoking. split into our teams after lunch for The Great Jafa Race. i was in One Nation Crew. we drove into Auckland, then had a scavenger hunt up and down Queen St. my team didn’t win, but we got some awesome photos:

One Nation Crew (Jess, me, Jono, Sarah, Hannah) busking. we made $2…

posing at a Queen St. intersection

dressing up at JayJay’s

cruising on a **free** bus

had an awesome worship session in the evening, followed by a great session from Ash Taylor. played cards and talked with people ’til the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sunday:

did some DJing for Whetu’s presentation about integrating a professional aspect into Team X. went to church later, which was cool. there was a huge lunch put on afterwards, followed by some sport. played netball. it wasn’t indoor netball, so nobody got hurt :oP

went for a swim later, then everyone got prettied up for the 2oo6 Team X Grad Dinner. it was nice. went to night church, where the 2oo6 trainees graduated. stayed up late again talking with peeps.

Monday:

broke into workshops today. i went to one about funding and one about learning & listening styles. we all had a drama workshop after lunch, which was fun. then we had a team building/stims/physical activity workshop, which was also fun. we projected Zathura onto the big screen later. people couldn’t get mad with my choice of movie, ‘cos i wasn’t the only person who chose it. hahaha! played cards again and stayed up ’til even earlier hours of the morning chatting wih peeps.

Tuesday:

the last day of Conference! Mike and Bruce shared with us this morning, then we ate lucnh and cleaned the place up. it always sucks when cool things come to an end and you have to say goodbye to everyone and the new friends you’ve made. i cruised back to Bruce’s place with a few others to stay the night. watched Meet the Fockers and V For Vendetta.

Wednesday:

cruised into Auckland with a bunch of people and went shopping. bought The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and Eurotrip on DVD. drove out to Takapuna where a few of us were staying in my family’s apartments. met Sarah from Conference who was at the apartments for a fashion show with her family. random! invited her to come and hang out with us afterwards. a few of us jumped in the spa for a while, then hung out watching TV. Sarah came up and joined us for a while before i dropped her and Katie home.

Thurday:

went to the zoo today with Alisha, her family, Rach, Nicole and Sarah. had a great time. the Auckland weather was so nice that i got sunburnt. dropped Sarah home, then started the long journey back to Palmie. it took about 7hrs, but we got there safely. crashed at Jono’s place.

i’m so looking forward to Conference 2oo7!

PC’s pwn FPS’s

went to North St. early this morning so the kids could show us their dances from the production that they put on last week. they were cool. taught room 3 the Decision Making programme, then got to join in their shared lunch :o) hung out with the kids at lunchtime, then taught room 4. it was cool.

went to Turakina Maori Girls School afterwards. the rest of the team taught there earlier this year. the girls had a dress rehearsal for their house competition tomorrow, so we got to watch. it was cool. each house did a bunch of songs and a couple of dances.

went out for dessert and coffee with Katie, Megan and Jono tonight to celebrate Megan’s birthday. it was nice. came back to Jono’s and tried and failed to play Halo 2 on their XBOX. as far as i’m concerned, first-person shooters were designed for PC’s, and should’ve stayed on PC’s. i’d kick any of the family’s butts if it came to Unreal Tournament.

kia ora e te whanau

had my devo with Team X this morning. we made paper planes and had competitions. it was fun. went to St. Peter’s for the last time and ran the Summary programme with the kids. it was fun. we had a shared lunch with one of the classes :o)

came back to the office and i started learning my mihi. apparently, for the Team x conference, we’re going marae styles, and i need to say something. i have to learn it all in Maori by Friday…it’s going alright at the mo.

hung out at Jono’s all night cooked dinner with Katie, then watched TV for the rest of the night.

noxious chemicals smell weird

worked with noxious chemicals at work today. solvents that dissolve metal surely can’t be good for to be inhaling. oh well…it rained today. got rather wet walking to my car. tried to dry off at the PhotoVoice meeting i had, but ended up just being wet and warm, which quickly changed when i stepped outside into the cold again.

had a haircut later. it’d been a while, but now my hair is nice and short again.

didn’t go to WIT tonight, ‘cos i didn’t have enough time. finished packing for my time away. as well as going up to Palmie this week, there’s also the Team X National Conference, which i’m going to leave for without coming back home first, so i needed to pack and take everything up to Palmie with me.

which i did. now i am in Palmie.

are you going to Strawberry Fare?

didn’t really want to work today, but i need the money. luckily, there was enough work for me when i turned up. spent most of the day scraping silicon and paint off some new Morfire units. Silicon is a pain to get off, and i’m sure i inhaled too much of it. now i’m lead and silicon tolerant…

went to the airport after work to see Fi off. she’s going to England to study for a year or so. it’s been just over 2 years since we broke up. i think even if we had stayed together, things wouldn’t have worked out. one of us would have probably ended up holding the other back from reaching their goals. it’s cool you’re following your dreams, Fi, and i hope that we can remain friends…

went to Jono’s birthday dinner at Strawberry Fare afterwards. it was great fun! spent the night chatting to a few people, including Jen and Libby, who were at Strawberry Fare for someone elses’s birthday! the NZ Christian community is very small, and you’re sure to find links with people who you’ve never met before. one of Jono’s mates is the brother of my sister’s 7th form school formal date. and another chick who was there is one of Jen’s best mates. crazy huh?

my sisters might be going flatting together in a couple of weeks, which means i’ll be all on my lonesome at home. on the plus side, i’ll have free reign of and no waiting times for the bathroom :oD

Team X - endings and beginnings

went to church this morning and ran the Summary programme with Frequency. it doesn’t feel like it’s been a whole term since i started running the Team X programmes with Frequency. meh…

went to McD’s for lunch with Whetu and we talked more about Team X and next year. it’s starting to shape up and look like something good now. it’d be nice if everything just fell into place, but that rarely happens with anything. not even Tetris.

came home and washed the Team X van and helped Mum and Dad with the gardening. played StarCraft with Dad later and my computer didn’t have any issues. played Diablo II and watched TV all night.

a day for movie sequels

played Diablo II this morning. guess what crashed? NOTHING! hahaha! i wonder how long it’ll last.

met up with Robert this afternoon. he’s another kid i’m mentoring. we had a great time. went to KFC, played mini golf, then went and saw ‘Garfield 2′. played some basketball before taking him home. as a bonus, i’m getting paid for it all :o)

played more Diablo II, then caught up with Jon and Si. we went into Wgtn and saw ‘Clerks II’. it was great. i’ll have to see the original at some stage…

you can’t put me in a box

went to St. Peter’s with the team today and taught about addictions, what causes them and how to break free. if only it were as easy in real life as it seems in the programme…

we had team photos taken in the afternoon by Katie’s dad. that was fun. we played around on playground equipment. you’re never too old to play on a playground. except maybe if you’re 90 and can’t climb things anymore ‘cos you have brittle bones…

we helped someone move house later. it was a good workout. i’ve had worse experiences with helping people move house…although, the lady we helped was one of the worst packers i’ve seen. she wanted everything to go in boxes. one huge box i carried was rather light, and inside was a bag full of coathangers. WTF?!? she even wanted to pack her watering can in a box! i s’pose when i move house i can do it my way.
