80,000K…i wish it was money

i mustn’t have got a decent enough sleep last night. work was still pretty boring today. the flow of work wasn’t constant either, so i filled in my time by reading some of Flight of The Nighthawks by Raymond Fiest. it’s a good book!

my car only cost me about $60, so that was nice. hopefully everything they did means that it won’t squeak any more. only time will tell…

drove up to Palmie. it was pretty uneventful, although the odometer in the Team X van clicked over to 80,000K. you know that driving is becoming a chore when things like that amuse you…

time: the variable constant

it’s funny how time is constant, yet it seems to vary all the time. doing something fun makes it seem like time has passed rapidly. packing things into bags at work makes it seem like time is passing slowly. stripping wires can go either way, but today it seemed to make time draaaaggggg…

hopefully if i get a decent sleep tonight, work tomorrow will be more bearable. it’s worked in the past.

forked out nearly $600 for my car today - repairs and a new rego. hopefully, it should be the last time i have to pay that much money for my car for at least a year…i have to take it into get a very annoying squeaking noise checked out tomorrow. hopefully it’ll be a $”nothing” job, and not an $”everything i have left” job.

my sisters’ flat came over for dinner, as did our friend Scottie and cousin Garth. i love dinners like that. laughing and fun times are guaranteed :oD as a result, this evening seemed to go by very quickly.

weekend review

well, Frequency camp was awesome. i am now thoroughly tired and sunburnt, and should have gone to bed hours ago, but i just had to stay up to play Diablo II with Carl. we clocked Act II. yay :o)

i did all kinds of stuff at camp. watched DVDs, gave my talk about treasures (it went pretty well), had a water fight, went swimming and kayaking, dressed up like a pirate for the pirate dinner, had a treasure hunt, played spotlight, ate camp food, and woke the kids up this morning by loudly banging a pot with a large spoon. all pretty standard camp fare :o)

i’ve got a photo of me in my pirate get-up somewhere, so i’ll post that at some stage…

[update: here's the photo]

is there such a thing as legitimate procrastination?

didn’t work today. used my day off to do just about everything but prep for camp. took my car in to get serviced, mowed the lawns, went out shopping, then for coffee and brunch with Mum, drove over to the Hutt and back.

in the afternoon i worked on my talk for tomorrow. packed, then drove over to CFUH and jumped on the bus with all the kids and we headed up to Forest Lakes for the weekend.

should be fun…

eventful, uneventful

we had Nick hanging out with us all day today. he’s someone else who’s looking at maybe joining Team X next year. we went to North St. and taught Rooms 1 and 2 about Peer Pressure. it was fun. hung out with the kids at lunch and ended up getting mobbed by a bunch of juniors and dragged off to the junior playground where i was forced to try out every piece of playground equipment with them :o)

couldn’t really do anything with the Team X computers when i got back to the office. some guy from gen-i came and looked at them and might be giving us another computer or something, so i’m not gonna do anything more with the ones we have until i know for sure what’s happening with other comps. it’s all far too involved. just give me $3,000 and i’ll go and buy and happily set up three brand new computers!

helped Hannah move out of her old flat this afternoon. she’s going to board with some friends before she moves into her new flat in a couple of weeks, but we dropped her furniture there today so that she doesn’t have to move everything twice.

drove home uneventfully. i’d probably be worried if my drives were too eventful, ‘cos it’d probably mean that i got pulled over by the cops or crashed…

found out that i need some things done to my car before it can get its new WOF…and they sound expensive. hopefully they’re just really expensive-sounding mundane problems. then i need to get a new rego for it, and hopefully that’ll be the last money i have to spend on it for 6 months!

issues with computers that aren’t mine

Team X today was pretty cool. Kati (no ‘e’) hung out with our team all day. she might be joining Team X next year. that’d be cool. i need to find more people down in Wgtn who’d be keen to join the soon-to-be resurrected Hutt Valley team.

we went to LAC and taught our 2 classes about relationships. went to a maths and a PE class in my free periods. hung out with the kids at lunch too.

came back to the office where i spent pretty much the rest of the afternoon sorting out computer stuff. it’d be so much nicer if the computers i had to sort out were mine and they weren’t crap. the “new” computer we got was probably actually new about 6-7 years ago…and it doesn’t help that the current Team X computers have a shocking filing system and an even worse e-mail filing system.

left the office at 7:00pm

started writing notes for my talk at Frequency camp this weekend that i found out i was doing on Sunday. got about 1 1/2 pages of stuff written down. i should probably talk my way through it before Saturday to make sure i don’t say all i’ve written down in 10mins.

restorative justice

every time i work it seems like i haven’t worked for ages…probably ‘cos i haven’t, but that’s beside the point :o)

went to a combined homegroup event where we talked about restorative justice. it was alright. in a couple of weeks, we get to go and visit the Faith Based Unit at a prison. should be fun…

drove up to Palmie afterwards. i’m tired now.

i think i found the problem

i love public holidays! especially ones where i get paid for not going to work! decided that i was going to fix my computer today, so i took the cover off and took out the graphics card. cleaned the large amount of dust off the card and out of the fan and put my computer together again and voilĂ !

played Diablo II online with Carl all afternoon. we got up to Act II

spent all night doing nothing online. the internet is the biggest sucker-upper of time ever! Wikipedia is pretty good for wasting time. everything just links to everything else!

laaaaag suuuuucks!

went to church this morning. found out that i’ve got the morning slot at next week’s Frequency camp, so i need to come up with something to talk about and some games to fill 1 1/2hrs…

went to my sisters’ flat later and hung out with Jen for a bit. we went into Wgtn and met Libby for coffee and lunch. Ann joined us later. we started planning Dad’s birthday present.

came home and gave up trying to get my computer working. it’s having issues. again. installed Diablo II on the upstairs computer, then me and Carl played over Battle.net. it was cool except for the lag i was experiencing. it’s a bit un-nerving running into battle, then having to wait a few seconds while you blindly click mouse buttons to see if you actually kill anything…it worked for the most part. i played a Druid as opposed to my regular Barbarian, just in case you were wondering…

detonating ice harvests

i love being able to sleep in. it makes having to get up early for the rest of the week seem worthwhile.

met up with Robert today. we ate pizza for lunch, the went go-karting. it was cool except for the fact that my seatbelt was digging into my thigh…but apart from that, it was cool.

wnt to Denny’s for dinner with Jon and Si tonight. we played poker while waiting for our meals and after eating our meals. fun stuff. decided to get a couple of DVDs out, so we got ‘The Ice Harvest’ which had nothing to do with harvesting ice or diamonds and ‘The Detonator’ which had some stuff to do with detonating, but only in very weak sub-plots. both movies were pretty av, had random plots and weren’t incredibly grabbing…but not the worst movies i have seen.
