writhing in agony

it's never fun spending the night writhing in agony. but i did. i fell asleep at some early hour this morning. my stomach is still hurting pretty bad, but if i don't move, then it kinda settles and it's not unbearable.

hopefully it'll get better soon...

haven't achieved much today. i watched 'Flying High' which Carl gave me on DVD. it's funny. parody movies are great :o)

now i have to go and pack, 'cos this evening i'm going down to the South Island for my holiday. i probably won't have a lot of internet access, so i won't be blogging for a while. i know, you're close to tears, but i'll be back, don't you worry!

i'll catch up with you in 2oo7!

the Nokia 2118: small, beautiful and affordable

Boxing Day. one of, if not the biggest shopping days in NZ. and today was helped by the fact that the weather was crap, so nobody felt like going to the beach for a BBQ.

i joined the shopping masses and bought a couple of diaries for next year and...a new phone! i have moved into the smaller, sleeker phone age with everyone else. i now own a Nokia 2118. sweetness!

so yeh...my new phone is way better.

The Pearsons came down and spent the day with us for our traditional "sometime around Christmas" get-together. it was great fun. we played poker, worked on our Wasgij, ate dinner, then just hung out and chatted all night.

now i feel sick, and am going to bed.

i see your DVD and raise you a poker set

it didn't work. once again, i couldn't get to sleep on Christmas Eve. it must be something psychological. i really don't know what the deal is.

after breakfast, we got around to opening presents at 11ish. my big pressies this year were my flgith down to Dunedin, an AA membership and a poker set. everyone seems to own a poker set :o) it doesn't come in a flash metal case like some of the other ones, but it's got the cards and the chips, plus a bonus green table mat thing for up to 8 players. also scored the usual - cash, books, clothes and DVDs.

we played poker after lunch. Omaha styles, although we didn't play the Hi-Lo variant. i like Omaha hold 'em better than Texas hold 'em, 'cos you're more likely to get higher hands, and more people stay in the game.

after winning poker, i started doing the Wasgij we got. those things are great :o)

Jen's friends, Lorenzo and Ros, came round for dinner, and afterwards. we played a few more games of poker. good stuff.

Merry Christmas Eve

Carl came around this afternoon. we tried (and failed) to play a couple of computer games. every game of StarCraft we played, the computer killed one of us, and UT wouldn't even work. meh...

Si and Su came around later. we all sat around eating and chatting. watched Elf on TV. Jon came round too. had fun. we drove up around Woodman Drive again this year and looked at all the houses with lights on 'em. they were cool, but not as cool as this:

now everyone has left and my family is going to bed. i might, once again, stay up late and try to get as tired as possible so falling asleep is easy.

Merry Christmas everyone!

our lovely (and real) Christmas tree

i still haven't got the hang of Kakuros

spent most of today doing Sudokus, Kakuros, and other such puzzles. it was fun. i've got a few books of puzzles, so i might work my way through them on my holiday...provided i've got nothing better to do.

played Deus Ex for a while. it's not as hard on Realistic as i thought it would be...but maybe that's 'cos i've played it way too much to start with.

had some family friends round for supper, so sat around chatting to them.

the song playing on ZM at the moment is 'message in a bottle', which was one of my favourite songs to play on Guitar Hero 2 up in Gisbourne :o) my other favourite was 'woman' by Wolfmother.

c'mon FOX!

went in to the Team X office today. continued to clear it out with Whetu. it's looking a lot better now. we've set up the desks and cleared out all of the rubbish. all that's left to do is to get rid of some of the old furniture, set up the rest of it, then sort through everything we haven't thrown out.

came home and played Deus Ex for a couple of hours. went round to Jon's for a pre-Christmas BBQ. it was cool. played poker for a while, then we watched Serenity. it's such a cool movie. i hope Joss Whedon makes another movie, or another season of Firefly...if FOX lets him.

i wish that when blog.com made changes to its editor and stuff that it would leave my blog the way it was...

already in holiday mode

today i pretty much just wasted time. i finished work yesterday and i'm already in holiday mode.

played Diablo II for a while, chatted to peeps online, mowed most of the lawns and watched far too many videos on YouTube.

i won't be able to do most of that when i go on holiday next week...probably won't have access to a computer, let alone the internet.

Night at The Museum

last day of work today. it was pretty sweet. we had 30 mins for morning tea, an hour for lunch, then we finished work at 2:00! but we got paid for a full day's work :o)

picked Katie up later this afternoon and we went to the new Burger King in Upper Hutt. it's different to all the other BK's, 'cos it doesn't have walls full of 60's and 70's memorabilia. its walls are painted and that's it.

we went into Wgtn after and met up with Jon and Carl. we all went and saw the ZM movie preview of 'Night at The Museum'. it was cool. i wasn't really sure what to expect, but it was a really fun movie. perfect for the holiday season. i'm glad i won those tickets.

now i just have to win a big screen TV, a new computer, a fully furnished house and a few million $$$ :oD

EMC (2) vs. Moore Wilson's (-5)

worked again today. got my Christmas bonus :o) that's 2 years in a row. not bad for casual work. shove that in your pipe and smoke it Moore Wilson's.

...which, by the way, i heard new advertising for today. it really doesn't make me want to shop at Moore Wilson's. rather, it makes me want to go and laugh at all the staff. we should do that one day Carl...maybe Saturday, 'cos they'll be really busy.

had a pretty nothing night.

meh...
