the holiday are a’coming

worked today. for a full day. for the first time in nearly a month. now there’s only 2 more days before EMC closes for Christmas holidays. i wonder if i’ll get a bonus this year…

went to the Team X office (in Upper Hutt…not Palmie) and help Whetu rearrange the place. we’re changing it totally from what it’s been in previous years. it should look good when it’s finished. right now, it looks like we took everything off the shelves and threw it around the place, then threw the furniture on top of it. we’re going back on Friday to see if we can clean it up a bit…

spent the night chatting to peeps on MSN: Nicole and Celia. sorted out some holiday details with Celia. now my 5 or so days in Dunedin won’t be so boring, and i might be spending New Year’s Eve with friends at a crib (bach for those of you who don’t speak South Islandish) instead of with my Grandma at her house.

Christmassy

decorated our Christmas tree today. now our house feels Christmassy :o) Carl came round and we caught up for a bit, then we went with Jon into Wgtn and saw ‘Crank’. the random bits in it are great. imagine if Family Guy was an R18 action movie, but still had the random inserts. kinda like that.

watched some X-Men 3 special features, then spent the rest of the night watching TV. i haven’t had a good night sitting in front of the TV for ages!

found my camera, so i posted a couple of pics here.

meh…

WIT Christmas party

had the WIT Christmas party today. it started at 12:00. i turned up closer to 1:00, as did many others. it was cool. i got to catch up with people who i haven’t seen for a while. we mucked around, ate lunch, did the whole ’secret santa’ thing, but in such a way that meant you got to steal other peoples’ presents, played Twister and Cranium (i won both…), then when more people had left and it was getting later, we played the dictionary game. that was cool. i came last. everyone left at 8:00ish. 7 hours isn’t a bad effort for a party…

got home and played Diablo II with Carl. we clocked Act IV. only one more to go…

Harangus Adnauseum

the last day of Team X for 2oo6! we went to a morning tea put on by the church for all the volunteers who’ve helped out this year. there was some nice food :o)

we got our secret sant presents afterwards. i got a sudoku book. sweet!

at 1:00, we all got dressed up in our gears for the ‘How to Host a Murder’. cruised up to Andy’s place and started playing. it was really fun :o) here’s some pics:

i was the successful senator Harangus Adnauseum

[find out why Harangus Adnauseum is funny]

the whole team in our Roman costumes

we went out to a cafĂ© afterwards, still dressed in our gears. got a few strange looks from people…

drove home afterwards. hopefully i’ll get opportunities next year to go up and visit the Palmie crew. it’d be cool to see them more than once a year at conference.

the gorge walk

me, Nicole and Alisha went to Kairanga school this morning and helped out with the year 8’s. we went on a bush walk through the gorge. it was pretty cool. all up (including rest stops) the walk took us 3 1/2 hours. i spent most of the time at the back of the group talking with the slower walking kids. some of the stuff that 12 and 13 year olds talk about is priceless :o)

my knee started to seize up on the last section of the downhill. suck! although, the pain isn’t as bad as when i went on my tramp with Jon and Si…

came back to the office and did more cleaning for the rest of the day. we went out to Tararua for the junior prizegiving tonight. it was cool seeing kids again that we’d taught at the start of the year.

also, i’d just like to add for the record that chicks are weird and i don’t think i’ll ever understand what goes on in their strange little minds…

angst…i thought it only happened to teenagers.

had our final guy’s meeting this morning. it was cool. mucked around for the rest of the morning at Team X. drove a few of the team into town so they could sort out their costumes for Friday’s murder mystery. from what i’ve heard, it should be fun :o)

went to LAC after lunch for the junior prizegiving. the kids were stoked to see us again, and it was cool seeing the rewarded for all the work they’ve done this year.

we went yoghurt tasting at Fonterra this afternoon for some fundraising thing. we had to taste-test 4 samples of yoghurt and tell them waht we thought. i thought it all tasted like yoghurt, and didn’t really pick up an differences between the samples. meh…

went to Hannah’s flat tonight and hung out with her and Nicole. we watched The Longest Yard on DVD, then sat around chatting. it was cool.

felt pretty angsty tonight. i think it had something to do with the fact that i don’t have a girlfriend, or more specifically, i don’t feel like i have anyone who loves me. suck!

random this, random that

drove up to Palmie this afternoon. got there in time for our supporters party, where we invited a bunch of people who have helped support team X throughout the year to eat and mingle with us. it was cool. like most Christmas functions i attend, i ended up being the unofficial babysitter, and had 5 kids running around after me, crawling over me, rubbing glitter into me, etc. it was pretty fun. i’m sure it’s a big enough workout for me to not have to do any more exercise all week…

went and saw ‘Crank’ tonight with Dan, Katie and Nicole. it was cool. it had some great action scenes, and some pretty cool random bits too :o)

me and Katie went round to Hanna’s flat afterwards, but she wasn’t there, so we sat around chatting with Hannah’s flatmate, Fi. Hannah eventually turned up, so we chatted with her too. when i go flatting, i want a flat where random people turn up. that’d be cool :o)

if only i could win everything instead of having to work to earn money…

i was going to go to work today, but then i didn’t. i had to go into Wgtn to meet Jon around midday, so i would’ve only been able to work for a couple of hours…and i didn’t feel like driving out to the Hutt and back just for that.

so i stayed at home and listened to the radio. won some movie tickets. w00t.

went into Wgtn and met up with Jon and Steve. we went to the travel agent and paid for our flights for our holiday next year. we’re going on a contiki tour of Europe in September. should be awesome! it’d be nice to win something like Big Wednesday, with $50,000 worth of travel per year for 10 years. i could fly first class :oD

bought Enemy of The State on DVD, then went and picked up a costume for our Team X murder mystery on Friday…stay tuned for pics.

watched more Voyager episodes tonight. the crew just had their first encounter with the Borg…ooh, exciting. i’m looking forward to finally getting around to season 5, where Jeri Ryan joins the crew as 7 of 9.
