to eat or not to eat…that is the question

had an office day for Team X today. did a lot of minor updates for the website and nearly finished the 2nd issue of our newsletter. talked about our programme for tomorrow, then finished the day by playing poker. Catan stayed on the shelf…or the desk as the case was.

came home and felt hungry. you know that feeling you get when you’re hungry, but don’t eat anything, and then you feel sick? i got that. it’s dumb. but now i feel better…and hungry again.

the age-old debate…i’m hungry, but i’ve just brushed my teeth:

do i eat something because i’m hungry? would it really satisfy me, or leave me wanting more? do i leave it ‘cos anything i eat will taste like toothpaste and then i’ll have a weird aftertaste in my mouth? do i actually have anything in the pantry that’s worth eating and doesn’t require preperation? should i just have a drink of something? do i really want to wake up at 2am? can it all just wait until breakfast tomorrow?

DeathEater The Necromancer (level 7)

went to church this morning. it was alright. the CEO (i think) of World Vision in NZ was speaking. she was really passionate about her job and had some cool stories. i like people who aren’t boring when they speak…

went to McCafé afterwards and met up with Jo. we chatted, than came home and watched Doom and Shaun of The Dead on DVD. it’s nice to have some friends who haven’t seen all the same movies as me. means my DVD collection gets an occasional workout and makes it all the more worthwhile.

mucked around on my comp all night. i was going to watch TV, but ended up playing Diablo II and mucking around with a Necromancer. i could see how it could be a powerful high-level character, but i can’t be bothered levelling him up past what he is now. i don’t know if i’ll play single player Diablo II much more in the near future. i have no doubt that i’ll have a gaming shift one day and it’ll become my fave again.

Spider Pig

went out for brunch this morning with my family and Dan, who just seems like he’s part of the family anyway. it was to celebrate Mum’s and Ann’s birthdays. neither of whom i’ve actually bought presents for. slacker. we went to a café in Wgtn, beside the Embassy. it was quite nice.

went into Porirua later. returned my Die Hard DVDs, after having watched them all. i think that the Die Hard movies are on my DVDs to buy list. i didn’t want to have to add them to the list of DVDs that i own and have to re-buy. also bought some new pants. i’m starting to prepare for my trip to Europe. new pants is what i needed. i’m also getting a shoe repaired so that i don’t have to buy a whole new pair, and Mum sewed up my jacket for the second time. it’s as good as second-hand :o) the only thing left that i have to buy is money…and i should probably do that soon before the currency rates go psycho and i end up paying too much for my Euros.

played StarCraft with Dad this afternoon. it was pretty fun. he told me later that he tried playing against the computer by himself…he was doing okay, but then the computer nuked him…hehehe.

went into Wgtn with Carl, Si and Su and we saw ‘The Simpsons Movie’. it was great :o) if you like The Simpsons, you’ll love the movie.

DVD dilemmas

had Team X today. Whetu was away, so it was just me and the girls. it was pretty cool. had fun teaching and hanging out with the kids at lunchtime. came back to the office and finished up my assessments for the week.

came home and watched Die Hard With A Vengeance and the “special” bonus disc, which contained 2 documentaries about Die Hard…not the greatest special features ever. tomorrow i will try and return the DVDs. if i can’t i’ll chalk them up as another few DVDs that i have to eventually re-buy. no doubt that after Die Hard 4 is released there’ll be some new and improved DVD boxset…who knows.

i’m still waiting for my Hot Fuzz DVD to arrive from Aussie…

Die Hard…but not all the way…

yesterday Team X went to St. Bernard’s and taught our three classes. when i got home, i pretty much zoned out until around 7:30pm, when i went to bed…i was so tired.

today i didn’t do much. got my tyres aligned. now my car doesn’t pull to the left. it tends to do that if your front left tyre is about 20° out of alignment…which happens when you hit curbs. also bought the Die Hard trilogy on DVD. i was a little bit ripped off. in the promotional e-mail i recieved, i was told that the boxset contained the 2-Disc Special Edition versions of all three Die Hard films. w00t. what a bargain. sadly, that wasn’t true. the boxset only contains disc 1 of the 2-Disc Special Edition versions of all three Die Hard films. WTF? so i missed out on most of the special features. i might watch all the movies, then return them and complain.

my Die Hard DVD actually says that i can view additional special features on the 2nd disc! they just ripped disc 1 from the 2-Disc Special Edition versions of all three Die Hard films! hahaha…that’s pretty not smart.

i’ve now watched Die Hard and Die Hard 2…one to go.

Aí, caramba!

brainstormed our Uniqueness programme at Team X today. came up with some great ideas. i worked on some more assessment and website stuff. Ken came into the office this afternoon and talked with us about spiritual warfare. it was cool. he’s going to come in every fortnight and talk about it.

went out to Dan’s family’s house for dinner. Ann and Dan are back from their holiday to Mexico. ate and chatted. looked at photos later. then came the presents. i got a whole lot of Mexican candy. hahaha. my sister knows me so well :oP

getting around with Diablo II

slept in again today. skipped church. i’m helping out with Frequency for the next three weeks, so i’d better turn up then :oD

spent the morning on my computer, deleting viruses, backing up files, burning mp3s…the usual. Mum and Dad invited a family from their church over for lunch, which we ate at around 2:00. it’s a good thing i slept in and ate breakfast late…

played Diablo II online with Carl later this afternoon. watched TV, then played Diablo II online with Jo.

26-12

yeh…slept in today. then got up and did nothing. what a great Saturday morning. read more of the strips from Irregular Webcomic. i learnt a lot about physics.

Marie came round later. she stopped at my house on her way to Wgtn and we watched Evolution and I, Robot on DVD. she’s determined to watch them all…it will take some time. at the rate of two per weekend, it would take over three years. and by that time, i’m bound to have bought more. i’ve already got five on order…

mucked around online for a while, then went round to Daniel Barnes’s place. Jon was there, as well as other people i didn’t know. we watched the rugby. even for a non-fan like me, it was a really average game. played poker later. that was fun. then watched Starship Troopers. tried playing poker at the same time, but too many people couldn’t multitask…

Twilight Archon in…Soul Hunter out

went to Team X and taught three more classes today. it’s going to be a busy term! taught three more classes at Maidstone. now we’ve met all of the Year 7’s. that’s a lot of kids who expect me to remember their names! i remembered a few from Tuesday, and most of the kids don’t worry too much if i can’t remember and have to ask what letter their name starts with…or what their whole name is.

came back to the office feeling shattered again. started typing up the evaluation forms. having a template makes things so much easier! just replace names and save. the team went out for coffee afterwards to the café where Rose works part-time. it’s quite nice.

came home and didn’t really do anything that required moving. scoped out the StarCraft II forums again. i’ll be doing that a lot for the next [___] until StarCraft II gets released. it’ll be interesting to see what units make it into the final release, ‘cos they’re just testing everything at the mo. already some announced units have been scrapped and others edited, all based on gameplay and what people are saying in the forums.

i’ll buy it regardless.
