bring on the sleep!

taught our last three classes at Maidstone for the week. it was cool. me and Whetu did the WWHR drama again today. by the time i got back to the office, i was wasted. finished my assessments, printed out some small group photos, debriefed for the day, then had a nap on the couch for an hour or so.

went to the Calvert’s for KRANC tonight. we had pizza. yay! the night turned into a pretty casual time for hanging out and just talking. it was fun.

got home to fing that my US Marshals DVD had arrived from Aussie. now i have seven in my “to watch” pile…

now i am tired and am going to sleep for a long time.

more DVDs about fighting

went to St. Bernard’s with Team X today. it was fun. me and Whetu did the WWHR. i like that drama. we’re doing it again at Maidstone tomorrow.

came back to the office and we met up with Grant, who did a bit of funding for the Palmie team, but is looking to move down to Wgtn and still wants to be involved with Team X. he seems pretty keen to be a part of what we’re doing, so hopefully he’ll be able to help us out.

did a bit more long term strategic planning with Whetu regarding next year.

came home and found that my Walking Tall and Fight Club DVDs had arrived from Aussie. w00t! watched the remaining special features from Independence Day, then watched Fight Club later. some bits make a bit more sense the second time you watch it. I can’t remember the last time i saw it…probably when it was on TV years ago.

next year will be fun…

slept in this morning. went to the Team X office this afternoon and sorted out some stuff with Whetu. we talked about next year and what our plans are.

the team went out for dinner at the Silverspoon restaurant in Silverstream. it was cool. the food was really nice.

came home and watched some StarCraft II gameplay vids from Blizzcon. the Terran look awesome, and the Terran single player campaign looks kick-ass! i can’t wait for it to be released. i’ve just got to be patient and wait…for maybe a couple of years…i wonder if i’ll have a girlfriend before it gets released. hahaha.

why are you wearing a red t-shirt?

Went into Maidstone today. the thing that i got asked most was why i was wearing a red Team X t-shirt instead of a blue one. answer? my blue one’s in the wash. we talked about choices in our classes today. it was pretty cool. Rose and Lané did the WWHR drama. they girled it up. it was great :o)

did assessments and played poker back at the office.

went to WIT tonight. it was cool. the girls taught the guys how to be girls and vice versa. apparently, we guys aren’t chatty enough…

went out to Ernesto’s (café) afterwards with a bunch of WITsters. it was fun. Team X isn’t in classes tomorrow, so i can stay up late! yay!

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

went to Team X today. Andy was down from Palmie for the day. i did a lot of minor website updates. that filled in a lot of the day. i still need to practice my presentation for tomorrow…but i guess that ain’t happening tonight.

went to Porirua with Si tonight. we saw ‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry’. i scored a free double pass to it. so did Carl. we met him there. it was pretty funny for a movie that is pretty much just one big gay joke. good for a laugh, but i’m glad i didn’t pay for it :o)

DVDs & StarCraft: a near-perfect day

went to church this morning. it was pretty cool. went DVD shopping afterwards. found a copy of Wild Wild West, which i haven’t seen anywhere for ages, and also a copy of the 3 Disc Special Edition of Monty Python and The Holy Grail for 40% off. bonus! also bought Reservoir Dogs for $10. cheap as chips…or something that costs $10.

i might have to hold off buying anymore DVDs for a while…not counting the few that are still en route from Aussie.

came home and looked at my ever-expanding piles of DVDs that i have yet to watch. the last time i had a pile that was this size was when i went on a DVD bender in March at the Overseas Terminal.

started watching some of the special features of Independence Day, then played a few games of StarCraft with Dad. i told him that i would play against him, but go easy on him and only build units from my Barracks. ended up nuking him with a few Ghosts.

played again, but no nukes this time. i still won.

played again. won again.

played again with no Ghosts. in fact, i only used Marines and Medics. and still, versus all his superior units, i won. i have no doubt that one day, Dad will beat me, but until then, i know that i can beat him using just two units…

watched more Independence Day special features, then watched TV.

won’t have time to watch a movie tonight without being stupidly tired tomorrow, so i’ll put it off for now. they’re not going anywhere…just cluttering up my already cluttered desk.

haven’t heard any new news from Blizzard about StarCraft II, and the StarCraft forums are currently being majorly spammed, so i’m not checking them out tonight…

Dead Right

didn’t do a heck of a lot this morning. throughout the day i watched various Hot Fuzz special features. they’re pretty good. the bonus disc even includes director Edgar Wright’s first cop movie (Dead Right), which he directed when he was 18 back in 1993. it’s so amateur. it’s so funny :o)

went into Porirua and had a look round bought Total Recall on DVD. K-Mart actually has some decent DVDs at decent prices. i’ll have to remember that for when i come back from Europe and then eventually have money to spend…

mucked around online checking out StarCraft II updates. Blizzcon is happening this week, so there’s a lot of updates being announced. yay!

went round to Jon’s place tonight. me, Jon and Dan played poker and watched Hot Fuzz and Dead Right.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425112

taught three more classes at Maidstone today. they were cool. did office stuff, then came home.

and guess what was waiting for me…my 2 disc special edition of Hot Fuzz on DVD! yay! i watched it with the Fuzz-O-Meter fact track after i finished watching Hard Rain. some of the other commentaries on the Hot Fuzz DVD might be worth a look actually…i’ll watch the special features later.

spent the night surfing the net.

stupid internet.

more DVDs

didn’t sleep well last night. i felt sick. slept in all morning and didn’t go into the office. went and bought Escape From New York and Independence Day on DVD later. Whitcoulls is having a 25% off DVDs sale. also, my copies of Hard Rain and Doom arrived. i ordered them from sanity.com.au when i ordered Hot Fuzz two weeks ago, which still hasn’t arrived :o( then i went online to ezydvd.com.au and ordered a couple more DVDs.

the version of Doom that i ordered was supposed to have a whole lot of features that the NZ release doesn’t have, but the version i got sent is the same as the one i’ve already got. suck! hopefully i can either get a replacement or a refund.

i was meant to be a part of a research panel tonight for a couple of hours talking about renewable energy or something. by the time i got to the place, they had reached their quota of six people, so i left. i was supposed to get $70 for about 2 1/2hrs worth of my time. that’s like $28/hr! instead, i got $70 for turning up, signing my name and coming home again. score!

watched Escape From New York. i think people back in 1981 had a different idea of what “high-octane action and edge-of-your-seat suspense” is.

meh…

Green Syndicate Whanau Evening

i didn’t post yesterday ‘cos i was very tired. i had a 14hr workday at Team X! and you thought youth work was easy…

we ran our Self Worth programme with our three classes at Maidstone, then we had a Whanau Evening for Green Syndicate. Marie came in for the Whanau Evening. it was a great night! the programme ran smoothly and the feedback we got from parents and teachers afterwards was awesome! didn’t get home ’til around 10:45pm

today we taught our three St. Bernard’s classes. they were pretty cool. way better than i expected. we grabbed some pizzas for lunch, then came back to the office. did our office stuff for the day, then ended with a game of Catan. i think we’re going to need to alternate between Catan and poker…

came home and spent the night reading more Irregular Webcomic strips.
