what is love?

yesterday i went over to the Hutt for an Aspiring Leaders reunion. it was for the south of the North Island, and we had 4 people from Wgtn, and 4 from the north of the the North Island. haha. it was cool though. got to hang out and spend time and chat with some of the people who went to the Forum in May.

Lloyd Martin came and talked with us, then we went out for lunch and played some games. spent a lot of the day chatting with each other about our lives. we went into Wgtn to the Wine Loft later and hung out some more. i came back into the Hutt and went to Kellie’s birthday/house warming. ended up playing Catan with a group of people. it was fun.

today, after church i met up with Aimee for coffee, which was cool. we hung out and chatted and then went and saw ‘The Love Guru’. it was funny. it’s classic Mike Myers, so if you like him, you’ll like this movie.

came home and spent the rest of the day playing Diablo II and watching TV. tomorrow, it’s back to Team X, then on Tuesday, it’s back to Praxis…

blogging hiatus over…?

well, it’s been a while. the first part of my blogging hiatus was brought on by having too much else on in my life, and the second part was brought on by me being lazy and not being bothered to post…

we’ll have to wait and see if that part’s over now :)

so, over the last three weeks, we wrapped up Team X for the term with a couple of busy weeks that included two Whanau Evenings and a movie fundraiser.

last week i was at a camp at El Rancho, doing my semi-leader, semi-staff role. it was cool. Aimee was there for a couple of days, and the female version of me was a chick called Shani who was pretty cool. it was Bex’s last camp, so by the end of the week, there were lots of tears.

this week, i’ve been just chilling out. had a couple of days in the Team X office with Whetu and Katie. we have sorted out a few things about next term, and hopefully it’ll be a good term to build up the team dynamic.

apart from that, i’ve been playing computer games…and cleaning my room. i might do more of that tomorrow…

late

yesterday was pretty cruisy. went to church and did a notice trying to entice people to come to the Team X Movie Fundraiser. i think we’ve sold a third of our tickets now, which is cool :)

played Civ III for most of the afternoon and most of the evening. took a break to watch CSI, which had a dumb ending. then played Civ III until far too late and went to bed feeling tired and unable to sleep.

woke up feeling okay though…i’ll try and have an earlier night tonight…

had a pretty standard Team X morning. Katie ran her devo, i did some assessments and then i tried to get the crew to practice. the Palmy team came down this afternoon to visit us, which was cool. it was great seeing the trainees again, but we didn’t get enough time to catch up, and with 18 of us, there wasn’t a lot of room for one-on-one conversations.

after the Palmy team left, we ran through our programme for this week and some people practiced. i really don’t think that people have practiced enough…even me. hopefully we won’t run a crap programme tomorrow…

this evening, i finally got around to watching the special features on some of my DVDs that have been sitting on my desk for ages. i’ve still got about five DVDs worth of special features to watch.

also, i looked at some flats on TradeMe that need some flatmates. maybe i’ll give some of them a call tomorrow and check them out…maybe…

experience

went to Team X today. we spent the morning looking at what makes us unique and making cardboard hands for a mobile. the stuff we get up to, eh? when mine’s finished, i’ll take photos of it and post them here. i think mine’s quite styley :)

worked on programme stuff with the team and finished adding names to small group photos. they should be finished and on our wall in the next couple of days.

after lunch, we took the banner that was painted for us on Saturday to Expressions, where it’ll be on display for a while before Team X gets to claim it as our own. it was really cool watching the crew spray paint it on Saturday. it’s quite an involved process, but looking at the final result, it was worth it. our banner looks like this:

some awesome grafitti art…

we spent the afternoon playing games with the team. came home and didn’t do a lot. i s’pose i could’ve done my Praxis readings, ‘cos otherwise i’ll be reading them on the trian into Wgtn like i did every Wednesday last year…and i should look at my assignments too…

but i didn’t. watched Sahara on DVD. it’s pretty cool. i wouldn’t mind if they made another Dirk Pitt movie. never read the novels, but the action was good, and that’s what counts.

i might go and look at one of my Praxis readings before heading to bed…

things seem to be falling apart

hokay, so i’m back from Chch. i got back on Monday night and went to Team X on Tuesday, thinking that it would be all sweet and just the way that i left it…

…man, was i ever wrong! the nice neat whiteboard with this week’s plan written on it had been re-written and i found out that one team member is away sick and that Thursday’s have been completely re-staffed and that there might only be two people going into class and that i have to run parts of the programme that i had not been running before with no time to practice! also, we would be working with two classes in our last slot, because Maidstone is having the Year 7 Cross Country on Thursday!

went to school and didn’t let it faze me. had a blast meeting four new classes of kids. caught up with most of the classes that are now full of Year 8’s who were very pleased to see Team X back in their school.

came back to the office and did minimal work before heading home to bed.

woke up today.

had a meeting with Leanne regarding the YDTW website. it’s all in their hands now and out of mine. or at least that’s what i thought until i got home and found an e-mail asking me to fix it because after updating it, it had broken.

haha…if i’m not around things, they tend to turn to custard :P

this afternoon, i hung out at the Team X office filling out an application for some upcoming TV show that we’re trying to apply for. i got home, only to find that i had left my USB drive back at the office, but tomorrow, i’m heading to the Aspiring Leader’s Forum, so i can’t finish or send the application. dumb!

i should probably go and pack at some stage. i need flash clothes ‘cos we’re going to Parliament. i have black pants, black shoes and i’ll wear a shirt. i may have to take a photo to prove to you all that i can put on more than just cargo pants and a t-shirt…

i’m also going to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles to see what it’s like…

The Programme Manager’s New Clothes

Team X started up again today. yay! it was great to hang out with everyone again. plus…we got our new uniforms! for once i won’t have to wear an old hand-me-down t-shirt! we’ve got nice new aqua t-shirts and green t-shirts and black hoodies (which i may actually wear…shock, horror!) i tried it on today and shocked the rest of the team.

usually i don’t wear hoodies, or anything with sleeves for that matter…but it is quite nice and warm, and considering i don’t actually have any really warm clothes, it might be nice with the colder weather we’re getting now…

i’ll post photos when we get some taken.

over the next couple of weeks, i’m only going to be at Team X for two days…crazy! i miss out on two days of teaching in class, but things should settle down after that. i’m going down to Christchurch on Wednesday for Praxis. my studying for this year begins! and next week, i’m going to the Aspiring Leader’s Forum in Wgtn which will be fun.

looking forward to my week off…

well, the camp at El Rancho was awesome. i got to catch up with my El Rancho mates again, and got to meet some new leaders who were cool. i had a cabin to myself again this camp :) it was great. i was somewhere in between being a leader and being camp staff… i helped out with the flying fox and went kayaking and had a lot of fun.

and then i got sick. don’t know what hit me, but it was something like a 24hr flu bug. felt sick and had no energy. went to bed and stayed there for about 18hrs. i missed the last nigh of camp, but that’s okay. i heard a lot of it from my bed from which i could not move.

felt better on Saturday morning. better…not best. packed up and after the kids had gone, the leaders said their goodbyes and i cruised home. spent the next couple of days recovering to full strength. what that basically means is that i sat at home watching DVDs and playing computer games.

now that i am fully recovered, i intend to make the most of my week off! what that basically means is that i will sit at home watching DVDs and playing computer games.

which isn’t all i’ll be doing. today i’ve already organised four times for me to leave the house, and i have had and still have to make some very important phone calls. even on my week off i have to do stuff! maybe i’ll go and see some movies. Iron Man comes out this week! it looks awesome!

i guess it’s about time for an update…

if you really want to know what i’ve done since the end of March, then you can ask me. Team X facilitated another camp for the YDTW and then some other stuff happened. i had some great conversations with people. i bought some DVDs.

today, we ran the Peer Pressure programme at Mirimar South. it was cool. tomorrow is our last day with these awesome kids, so hopefully, it’ll be a good one. we debriefed the day, and then went and hung out as a team in Island Bay. it’s nice having some opportunities to hang out with everyone outside of the usual Team X environment. we grabbed fish’n'chips for tea, then hung out and had fun on the beach.

got home and actually had some time to just sit down and watch TV. it was nice. life’s been pretty busy for a while, so any down-time is nice.

i’m looking forward to tomorrow :)

my Easter weekend

saw 10,000 B.C. with Si and Su on Friday night. it was pretty cool. kinda like Pathfinder, but with mammoths and Egyptians.

went over to the Hutt on Saturday and caught up with Barry. then met up with Katie. after lunch and hanging out at her place, we went and played mini golf in Porirua. i bought Shrek The Third on DVD, then we came back to my place and watched DVDs for the rest of the day. it was cool.

went to church on Sunday. didn’t really pay attention to what was being said…it was kinda boring. bad attitude to have towards church, i know…came home and mucked around on my comp for the rest of the day.

today, Jo came over and we caught up. went out for lunch and i bought Pathfinder on DVD. we watched it. it’s kinda like 10,000 B.C. but with Vikings.

it’ll be weird going back to work tomorrow. this four-day weekend has been great :)

how last week was for me

it was pretty cool. Team X went up to El Rancho to facilitate the Stars camp for Wainui College. 280+ students! needless to say, it was pretty full on. spent a lot of time running Comfort Zones programmes and the flying fox. spent a little time on archery and team initiatives.

caught up with Aimee when i could, and had a lot of fun times hanging out with the team.

we finished on Friday and i came home and pretty much went to bed. i was drained.

on Saturday, i bought Hellboy and Resident Evil: Extinction on DVD. wouldn’t you know it, they’ve released a new ‘deluxe edition’ of Reident Evil: Apocalypse. i might buy it. i think it’s only $20 or so…watched Hellboy and Resident Evil: Extinction. spent most of the weekend catching up on sleep. did very little on Sunday.
